I have no comprehension why I had the impulse to read a few things I wrote in high school. There are mostly poems and a few “assignments”. I plagiarized way too many times in my youth and have no idea what writings are not truly mine. Keeping that in mind, I chose a very short poem to share with you.

Welcome!
(excerpt from Broken Glass)
“There was a terrible earthquake here in 1997. Part of the ceiling collapsed. Antonio pointed toward a spot high above the altar. “Imagine, the ground shakes and a ceiling in place since the 1200’s falls and breaks into hundreds of pieces.”
“But it appears to have been repaired.” commented Francesca.
“Ah, yes, but it is not the same. After they had gathered all of the pieces of the fresco there were many pieces too small to tell where they belonged.”
“What did they do? Perhaps they should of left it as it was.”
“No, that is impossible. People need things to be put right.”

By mixing fact with fiction I hope to engage my reader and create curiosity. It is fact that the Assisi basilica was severely damaged by earthquakes in 1997. The vaulted ceiling of the Upper Church collapsed. The numerous frescos depicting the Life of St. Francis were painstakingly repaired.
